Hows King – Owner since 2008; on site daily and very involved in operations of the center; received a Engineering Degree from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Chicago; Mr. Hows is the past President of the Georgia Childcare Association and served on the Governor's Early Education Steering Committee. He currently serves on the  Advisory Council of Georgia's Department of Early Care and Learning.  He owns another Discovery Point in Cumming.  Married for 30 years, he is the father of three.

Kristi Koch (Executive Director) - Ms Kristi has over 10 years experience in teaching and managing child development.   She cares deeply about family.  Ms Kristi has 2 sons and has been a surrogate mother for childless couples.

Karli Gulledge - (Assistant Director) Ms. Karli has been in the child care field since 2003 and has been working with us since February 2014. She is currently working towards a degree in Integrated Studies. Karli is a native Georgian and enjoys working out and playing with her dog Widdles.

Carolina Munoz (Special Projects Manager/Spanish Teacher)-Ms. Carolina is originally from Argentina.  There she studied marketing and administration for three years.  She has been in the childcare field for over 14 years and holds her CDA Certification.  She is a mother of two.

Haley Hurkmans (Infants Lead Teachers) – Ms. Haley has her Paraprofessional Certification and is the mother of 2 children.

Amanda Smith (Infants Assistant Teacher) - Ms Amanda brings over 10 years of experience caring for infant and prechool age children.  She has 3 children of her own.

Brianne Johnson (Lead Teacher, Beginners) Ms. Brianne holds an associates degree in child development. She is currently enrolled in Ashford University working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Valarie Gardner (Beginners Assistant Teacher) - Ms Valarie loves working with children.  She has been with Discovery Point. 

Angela Alvarado-Cruz (Lead Teacher, Early Learners) - Ms Angela recently moved from California where she was working toward her Child Development degree at El Camino College.  Ms Angela has 2 young girls.

Kaitlyn Scionti (Early Learner's Assistant Teacher)

Brittany Wilson (Lead Teacher, Toddlers) - Ms Brittany is working on her degree from Georgia State.  She has two young children.

Farrah Gardner (Toddlers Assistant Teacher)

Michelle Bishop (Lead Teacher, Explorers) - Ms. Michelle holds a Paraprofessional Certification and is currently enrolled at GGC for Special Education. She joined Discovery Point March 2017.

Carmen Harris (Explorers Assistant Teacher)

Gabriela Martinez (Lead Teacher, Achievers) – Ms. Gabriela has been teaching for almost 30 years in various capacities from Head Start to Pre-K to elementary aged children. She has her CDA credential. She is fluent in Spanish and is the mother to 2 grown children.  Mrs. Gabby was recently named a recipient of the Terri Lynn Lokoff National Teacher of the Year, which is an honor given to only 50 preschool teachers nationwide each year.

Brecken Aukland (Achievers Assistant Teacher)

Maria Parry (Lead Accelerated Pre-K Teacher) – Ms. Maria holds a Bachelors Degree in Art from McDaniel College.  She has worked in the early childhood setting as a Private Pre-K teacher since 2003. Ms Maria is incredibly adept at sharing her passion for Early Literacy and STEM with her students.

Jean Plumer (After School Lead Teacher and Art Enrichment) -  Ms. Jean has previous after school experience with children Kindergarten through 5th grade; She holds a Bachelor's degree and has an art studio in the Buford area.

Our teachers at Discovery Point Suwanee are all First Aid, CPR and Fire Safety certified. They also go above and beyond the state requirements for training each year.  All classrooms, including infants incorporate lesson plans that include literacy and language development, music and movement, fine and gross motor skills, sensory stimulation and much more.
